Do you remember over the years hearing that Pantone’s new color of the year was introduced? A local couple I have known for years was on the selection panel! As a color devotee, I was envious and really needed to be in on how they determined THE color! Also, it seemed paint companies would have insight as they could track the analytics on upticks. Well, the paint companies did start palettes of colors for each year. Sherwin Williams has a huge presentation each year. Other companies do as well. Last year when I checked Grey was the color and we all know we have had grey paints, kitchen slabs and washes on cabinets and furniture for 15 years. At least there are enough choices to now put an outfit together! It is difficult to find a wide array of colors with options other than grey.
So now to the new color – Very Peri! Also, Cosmos from Robert Kaufman Fabrics, Orchid Flower from WGSN and New Day from Valspar all have a new appeal and may be perfect for an area of your home. And most look good with grey! Sherwin Williams’ Evergreen Fog and Hope yellow offer more options. What happens after the color is announced? You may see it in various renditions from cars to clothing and, at last, homegoods!
We all have our favorite colors that we enjoy living with. The real key is buying when the color you love is available! If lavender tones work for you, it may be time to stock up. We do not change our colors every year, but we may add a sweater or tee. Always something to shop for!
